Thematic Issue in FEMS Microbiology Ecology
Thematic Issue on Aquatic Microbial Ecology – submit your manuscript
Editors: Veljo Kisand, Institute of Technology, University of Tartu, Estonia, kisand@ut.ee; Martin Hahn, Research Department for Limnology, University of Innsbruck, Austria, martin.hahn@uibk.ac.at
FEMS Microbiology Ecology invites submissions to a special thematic issue on Aquatic Microbial Ecology. This issue will focus on the roles of microorganisms in whole spectrum of aquatic ecosystems. Microorganisms, representing all domains of life, have successfully colonized all aquatic habitats. Topics of interest include: C, N & P cycles; sedDNA of microorganisms in aquatic systems; deep aquatic biosphere; waterbody - land - atmosphere interaction in microbial ecology; ecology of aquatic fungi; ecology of aquatic microbial eukaryotes; big data and data re-use in aquatic microbial ecology; microbial interactions; and microbes in a changing world.
The thematic issue is prepared in connection with the Symposium on Aquatic Microbial Ecology – SAME17 “From isolation to collaboration” 20-25.08.2023 Tartu, Estonia.
FEMS Microbiology Ecology will consider full length Research Papers or Mini-Reviews/Perspectives. There is no maximum length for papers, but the length should be justified by the content. All submitted papers should be complete and adequately supported by original experimental work leading to significant advances in our understanding of aquatic ecosystems; they should not be preliminary versions of communications to be published elsewhere. All manuscripts will undergo regular review by members of the Editorial Board and other appropriate experts. Pre-submission inquiries may be directed to Veljo Kisand or Martin Hahn.
Authors should specify “Aquatic Microbial Ecology” in their cover letter. For instructions on submitting a manuscript please see the FEMS Microbiology Ecology's instructions to authors.
Accepted manuscripts will be published in regular issues of the journal and the Thematic Issue will be compiled and made available online in 2024.
For more information on submitting your transcript, please see the FEMS Microbiology Ecology instructions for authors.
